The results of recent studies say, watching television may increase risk of dying from heart disease was almost five times. This also applies to those who love idleness and often linger in front of the computer.
A recent study conducted professor David Dunstan and his team from the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute found that people who spent more than four hours watching TV 80 per cent more at risk of death from heart disease than those who watched TV less than two watch.
Dunstan said, risk is stalking the people who rarely move, which most activities only move from one seat to another seat, a long time watching TV or sitting at the computer.
“Even though a person has an ideal weight and look healthy, too often sit without doing any activity in the period long enough to affect blood sugar levels and in their bodies,” said Dunstan, as quoted from the Telegraph, Tuesday (12 / 1 / 2010).
In their study, researchers conducted a survey of approximately 8800 adults. The participants then were in control during the seven-year study to measure levels of cholesterol and their blood sugar. Not forget, a habit they spent watching TV was included in the study.
The research found, for six years 87 people died of a heart attack and another 125 due to cancer. In these findings, other factors such as smoking and blood pressure tingggi not included. For that reason the researchers suggested that we should avoid sitting too long in order to reduce the risk of dangerous diseases.
