Ivy Bean is going to go down as a legend where Twitter users are concerned – after all, this is no ordinary lass and certainly won’t come across as an avid Twitterer. She has just passed away at a ripe old age of 104 years, amassing nearly 57,000 Twitter followers worldwide as they follow her daily routine which ranges from eating the traditional English meal of fish & chips, while pottering around her garden during her spare time. She manages to convey warmth and friendliness in nearly every message, and will also correspond regularly with her followers. Bad days don’t get this centurion down easily, and this world record holder could probably be the oldest Facebook user as well since she joined the social networking site back when she was 102 years young. She moved on to Twitter simply because she maxed out her friend limit on Facebook, with 25,000 pending friend requests waiting. Bean leaves behind five great-grandchildren as well as a reminder to us all that one is never too old to start something. RIP, Ivy Bean.

They say nothing ever comes for free, but Microsoft employees recently did get some good news in the form of free Windows Phone 7 devices. That being said, an email is now going around that employees are being encouraged to evangelize the product, and also to try and find some time to develop apps for it, though it’s probably not a direct order to develop said apps. Obviously Microsoft is trying to harness the ability of its talented bunch of developers, and if everything works out according to plan, maybe we’ll see a large number of Windows Phone 7 apps ready to go when the devices are launched. It’s hard to imagine that anybody would complain about the free phones, though.

Chein must have a whole lot of spare time on his hands to come up with this neat looking arm-mounted light weapon, where the lamp which is placed in your palm will feature a ring of LEDs that make for a fancy glowing effect, leaving the rest of its destructive power up to your imagination. To brighten things up by a few notches, there is a xenon bulb located at its center. Bosating a flash capacitor and charge circuit from a disposable camera, you get a battery voltage that has been stepped up to 330V, resulting in an intense and temporarily blinding discharge when turned on. Paranoid androids might want to wear this while the sleep to blind sneaky thieves in their homes at night, and is certainly as cool as performing a fire breathing trick at home minus the risk of burning down the entire place.

Presenting a concept gadget for communication so cool it is only known as the Communication Gadget.
As you can see, that metal tube has some “pop-out” feet and can project a keyboard and some textual display there. I am assuming that there is some sort of sensor to detect the fingers tapping for [...]

This Tron-inspired NES mod must have taken quite a bit of effort to come up with, as it does look good. Despite looking great under the light, the console really seems to come to life when you put it under a black light, giving you that glowing look. The power switches have also been rigged with blue LEDs behind them, glowing to match the rest of the console. Part of this mod also involves the addition of a pair of 1/4″ audio jacks, allowing you to hook this console up to a stereo system, though you’ll still be getting mono sound. Have you done any Tron related projects in your spare time before? Check out a video of this mod in action after the jump.
